Why home lab? because its dope as shit and cheap as fuck! Syncplay synchronizes the playback of media files across several remote machines. this means you can do more fancy things like load testing your code.Īs this is in my home i also run other more home friendly things, like plex. The biggest benefit of having a home server is that you can have a high count of cores and threads with a nice base clock with a good chunk of RAM without breaking the bank. * i also run a bunch of apps with different services there constantly (Databases, discovery services, custom apps, web server, etc.) * DNS server, for caching DNS and to set my own internal DNS entries (some of this are mirrored of external DNS so if I'm in my home network they will resolve internally.) Contact support for issues not listed here. * Jenkins server, this automates my builds and run my code tests, once everything is compiled and tested, taking into account test pass it gets auto-deployed to my own home server. If you are experiencing an issue not listed here, contact support. * Basically, i run a git repository backup (github is what i use but everything pushed to GH is also pushed to my server) and this repo is also backed up daily to S3 with infrequent access setting. I run a kubernetes cluster where i have a few services that allow me to offload of my main pc. Install from Volumio UI → Plugins → Music Services): github. My use case for a home server is to reduce on my cloud expenses (about anything from $200 to $500 a month). You can find the plugin here along with installation instructions ( EDIT 6/10: Jellyfin now included in Volumio plugin list. Media is streamed in native format, so if you have tons of FLACs / DSDs, then…you get the idea If you are streaming from remote servers, you should ensure that your Internet connection is fast enough and you are not on a limited data plan. You can of course use Volumio’s Upnp browser for local DLNA browsing, but IMO the Jellyfin plugin provides a better interface than what can be provided by DLNA (and Volumio’s Upnp browser is rather rudimentary in some respects). AlexHost offers automated dedicated servers and VPS hosting. The Syncplay Client launches a media player on your computer, connects to a Syncplay server and joins a virtual room on that server. The plugin also works well for local Jellyfin servers. Syncplay allows people to enjoy a shared viewing experience even if they are thousands of miles apart, so friends can watch anime, movies, TV shows and other media together. At home, I would like my Volumio device to be able to stream from this server as well. It is essentially an nginx webserver with php7, fail2ban (intrusion prevention) and Lets Encrypt cert validation built-in. I wrote this plugin because I have a Jellyfin server set up at my workplace and configured to be accessible from the Internet. The SWAG docker image, published and maintained by LinuxServer.io, makes setting up a full-fledged web server with auto generated and renewed ssl certs very easy. With this plugin, you can stream music from one or more Jellyfin servers in native format. The Jellyfin project is based on Emby but without the proprietary bits. I’ve written a plugin for use with Jellyfin media servers.
